This is Peanut Butter Brickle. There are many words you can take lightly. Toast is one word. Not to serious.
Pebble. Not too serious.
Marshmallow. Not too serious.
But home is a very serious word to me. It has meant many things to me over the years. When we lived by Granny and Pappy it felt like home in the orange grove.
When we moved into the RV and traveled around for seven years, that was home. The road was home.
And now? It is official. We have a home in that Italy place. As of yesterday, it is officially ours. It is mine and Fruitycake’s. It is our home.
I know we aren’t there yet and we still have a lot of planning to do. But I’m ok with that. I’m ok with waiting. The little house has been there for many years. And it isn’t going anywhere. It has been waiting for us, I think.
In a way, we are rescuing the house. And the house is rescuing us too. We both need each other. And it’s ok to need someone. Needing someone is part of life. At one time or many times, we will all need help.
I feel like years and years of back and forth for the persons and their decisions is finally over. Now it is a relief. We can start fresh. We can learn. We can hope. We can dream. Yes, we will struggle. It won’t be easy. It will be hard work. But just getting to this point has been a struggle. And we are so happy to be able to have a new struggle.
There were a lot of things that went wrong this last week for the persons and so much stress and worry thinking that we might not get the little house. We were hoping for the best, but very nervous. And when it was finally done yesterday, and the papers were signed, we felt joy! We felt frightened too. And that’s ok. Because the hardest things in life often turn out to be the most beautiful.
We have to say thank you to some of our friends and family who helped us with the little house and many of the processes it took to complete. Without them, our home would have been only a memory.
With them, it was possible. And with your encouragement and love, it added to our strength. We thank everyone who cared and believed in us. We won’t let you down either.
We have some things to figure out. But guess what?! Peanut Butter Brickle and Fruitycake The Raccoon have their own little house in that Italy place!
It’s ours! Home sweet home.
