Hi, Fruitycake? Yep! That’s Me!

This is Fruitycake The Raccoon. I’m really getting used to this being loved and appreciated way of life. I can understand why Digby Pancake tried so hard to stay.

Girl Person tells me that the way she misses Digby really hurts.

But she also tells me that I make life better. She says I make her laugh.

She says I keep her occupied. She says that she can’t imagine a day without me. And I’m not used to being loved for just being me. I’m not used to even having a name. The shelter just called me “This Dog”.

And now? I hear little persons calling my name in the campground. I really like those little persons. Especially when I walk by and they yell, “hi Fruitycake!” I could listen to it all day. I have a name. I sure do.

Girl Person even got me a collar with fruit on it and a name tag that says Fruitycake The Raccoon. I’m very proud of it! I have a name. I love my name. I love being loved by others.

Do you take your name for granted? Someone loved and cared for you when they gave you that name. They thought it fit you. They thought you would like it. Do you appreciate your name? What’s the story behind it?

Being loved is special. Your name is special. When you haven’t had it so easy like me in the past, it’s the little things that are the big things.

Like my name tag. I look at it. And I know I’m me. I’m loved. I’m in a family. I’m home.

What makes you feel special? Like you? Unique and loved? Wear it proudly like my name tag.
