How Do You Spell Relief?

This is Deputy Digby Pancake. I’ve been told that I’m a breath of fresh air.

However, I’ve never been told that my breath is fresh.

But yesterday, after days and days of stifling heat and no breeze, the wind paid us a little visit. The breeze was blowing. It. Was. Refreshing.

Usually, this part of the Florida place has wind all the time. And even if it’s hot, you can at least count on a breeze to make you forget the heat for awhile. It’s a relief.

Thinking about the last few weeks, it’s hard to remember before all the sickness. And vet visits. It’s hard to remember before all the heartache and being scared and being tired. It took a toll. Even though we were out of quarters.

But even when we were going thru all of it, there was still relief to be found and felt. We just had to sit still to recognize it. It was there. Relief was so close. Yet we didn’t know it.

When hard times are there, it’s important that if we can’t change the hard times, that we still give ourselves some relief. Even if it’s for a moment. A breeze only passes thru quickly. But it makes everything better for that moment. And if that moment is brief, at least it was a good, brief moment.

Relief may not be the same for everyone.

Some may like to take a walk, or cuddle their dogs, or sing a song to feel better. If you can make yourself feel better and feel really good despite something not so good that you have to deal with, you’re a diamond in the rough. Or ruff.

We all need relief. Some days and some weeks are harder than others. But the harder the diamond, the stronger it is. And it still sparkles. It’s your turn. Find your breeze, your relief, and sparkle!

This is Peanut Butter Brickle and Digby Pancake. There are things we like to spend our money on. Cookies. Pancakes. But what happens when we have to go to the vet? Girl Person says we’ve all been there…the vet office with empty pockets.

Well, that’s why we don’t wear pants. Unexpected vet visits and emergencies with our furkids can add to the stress of emergencies. The persons said they definitely learned their lesson this past month! So far, they have spent out of pocket thousands of dollars with vet bills and prescriptions.

What could they have done different? They could have taken advantage of an account offered to pet parents for this exact, life situation from Varo Money and saved for these situations ahead of time by putting away just a few dollars a month. It all adds up!

Unlike big banks that charge you for almost every single transaction, Varo is totally fee-free. By avoiding fees, you’re already ahead of the game. Stop for a moment to consider every banking fee you paid last year and how much money you would have back in your bank account if you’d kept it. These fees could have been used for your pets! Varo offers fee-free, high-yield savings accounts that don’t require a minimum balance and automatic tools help you deposit money into your savings without thinking about it. Varo pays one of the highest Annual Percentage Yields (APY) of any other bank in the country! When you use Varo, you can get paid up to two days earlier with Early Direct Deposit – that’s more money to pay bills, earn interest, and save for that ‘What If?” fund that is going to happen to us all. The Varo app is available on iOS and Android which makes it even more convenient!

You love our furkids like family, because they ARE family. You shouldn’t have to let bills stand in the way of getting them the best care that you can. Saving ahead of time, just a little at a time, can certainly help. And so can Varo!

The Great Pretenders

This is Deputy Digby Pancake. It’s been a hot week. This is no secret. It’s probably no secret that you’re tired of hearing from us how hot is is.

It is so hot here in this Florida place that I have decided the best thing to do is pretend it’s not hot. I’ve decided that if my attitude is cooler, maybe, just maybe, I’ll feel cooler. Just call me and Sheriff Brickle the great pretenders.

Sheriff Brickle is usually the voice of reason. However, he can’t reason very well in this heat.

His arresting is even a little lighter. But he can’t even argue with pretending.

He says that you have to do what you have to do. The world of make believe seems better than living on the sun right now.

I’ve learned quite a few things in my life. One is that if things aren’t going well, and there isn’t much you can do about it, you have a couple choices.

You can let it get you down and dwell on it. Or you can put on your positive attitude and pretend to be happy. Even if you’re not. How does that help? Eventually, you will forget you’re pretending.

The only time this logic does not work is when I pretend I don’t want pancakes 24 hours a day. But otherwise, I find that I can pretend to be anywhere. I can pretend to be able to do anything! And I can!

So when life gets you down, pretend you’re up! For me, right now, I’m pretending I’m swimming in the coolest stream of maple syrup with my mouth wide open. You can eat pancakes there all day. And I’ll believe it. Even if someone tells me all there is around is corn flakes.

Pretending is fun and helps us remember what we really want in life. Let your imagination fly. And then go there. But I would recommend staying away from the sun. Did I mention how hot it is?
