In Jail

This is Sheriff Peanut Butter Brickle. The farm life is really suiting me. And Deputy Digby too.

We have animals to watch over. We have a campground to police. And I feel like my resume is really growing here. Looks good for my job experience. I also look good. But you already know that.

The persons are liking it here too. They also get to see animals and shop for vegetables and fruits.

And Girl Person may buy up all of their pickled beets and German sauerkraut.

They even have a place at the farm where they make breakfast with pancakes and strawberry shortcake.

And you can better believe we will also be sampling their ice cream. Yes. We are glad we got a spot here until Friday.

But when we first got here, we were a bit tired. Tired of trying to find a place to stay. Tired from having to get fuel. Tired from the heat we haven’t been used to. And we didn’t see much of anything on the farm when we arrived. No. We weren’t looking for anything good.

We were thinking about all of the mistakes we have made lately. And about plans for the future. And about when we would have to look for our next camping spot. Yeah. We were in our own kind of jail. And we put ourselves there.

Have you ever felt like that? You think about all the mistakes you’ve made and you feel so bad that you can’t enjoy now.

You are in a prison of sorts. And for once, I didn’t do the arresting. You did. So. How can you get out?

Well obviously, peanut butter cookies and pancakes are required to post bail. But what else?

Forgiveness. It may be easier to forgive others than to forgive ourselves. But only each of us individually has the key. Only we can let ourselves out.

Don’t deprive yourself of happiness by concentrating on the past. Don’t deprive the world of how great you can be. Let yourself out. But don’t forget to post bail.

As we stay on the farm this week, we aim to learn from it. The hard work. About the animals. About the land. But about ourselves most of all. Let yourself out of jail and enjoy it with us.
