Listen To Me

This is Fruitycake. Many of us talk and yet, not many ever truly listen. Why? You’re always thinking of the next thing that you’re going to say. But us dogs don’t really have that problem. Not even a dog like me that likes to bark, bark, bark.

But persons? Let me tell you something you may not know. We, as dogs, are trying to tell you something all of the time. You’re not listening. At all.

In fact, you’re not even trying most times.

Yesterday, I was doing a lot of talking to Girl Person. First, that man who looked sketchy with his sketchiness too close to her was a potential threat.

It took me jumping up from my sit down position and going towards him to wake Girl Person up to the threat.

It can’t continue with you

Then, I tried to alert her to the heatwave danger. We are in the middle of a heatwave in this Italy place. And it’s very hot. Very. We can stay cool at night with our little air conditioner fans but during the day, we keep everything closed up to keep the cool air in. That is what they do here.

But I knew that it was going to be very, very hot. Too hot to trot. Too hot to even take the chance of walking very far and having to walk up the path again. But Girl Person wasn’t listening. She didn’t understand that me stopping in the middle of our walk was not because I had something in my paws. She checked them all.

And it wasn’t because I was tired. No, I wanted her to listen to me. Finally, she asked me what I was trying to say, looked in my eyes, and she figured it out. Listen to me. Listen to us, persons.

It takes more than just doing to live your best life. It takes listening. Listening to the birds and the bugs and the animals. What are they saying? Maybe it is easier for you not to know and not to feel. Easier isn’t better. And easier isn’t your best life.

So listen to me today and this week! You have the whole week ahead of you. Don’t just go thru the motions. Listen and remember you don’t know it all.

Our mission has long been rooted in helping animals in urgent need through awareness and direct action. Over the years, we have cultivated a substantial international following through our social media platforms under the name 2 Traveling Dogs, and Under The Crow which allows us to reach more than 40 million individuals daily. We use this platform to share stories and urgent appeals for adoptable animals worldwide, helping connect them with loving homes.

As part of our transition to having a physical base in Italy, we are working to sustainably renovate our home and land, which presents unique terrain challenges. Prioritized improvements include:

Installing a new roof

Clearing and maintaining paths across the landscape

Developing on-site studios for educational filming and global rescue outreach by way of social media

Our goal is to collaborate international rescue organizations to amplify animal welfare efforts globally and locally. We also plan to continue our travel and content creation to spotlight worldwide rescue work and encourage compassionate action.

We estimate this initial development phase to span 2–4 years, understanding that unforeseen challenges may require flexibility. Our intentions are long-term and community-focused, and we are committed to respectful integration and contribution to the region and beyond.
