King Brickle

This is Peanut Butter Brickle. I don’t really know what a king is…or what he does.

But I do know lately that I sure like being treated like one.

And it’s about time after all of these years, if I do say so myself.

I’ve worked hard for a long time. For many years. I traveled with my persons to the states and the shelters and the rescues.

I’ve written a dog blog every day during the week for over 13 years. And I have loved working. It’s given me purpose and a sense of accomplishment. We haven’t been rich with things persons consider to be of value. But we have been able to spend time together, and with you too.

But it’s time for me to slow down a bit.

I haven’t come to this realization over night. And neither have my persons. It kind of came to us gradually. I guess Digby Pancake taught us many lessons. But one of the biggest lessons he taught us was that life can be happy at any stage of life.

The trick is not to compare the present stage with the past. You make the most of where you are now. And now, it’s time for me to be a king.

King Brickle. I like the sound of that.

The persons have been letting me make my own decisions lately on everything. When I want to do something, they support me.

When I don’t want to do something, they listen. And one of the best parts? I get to go at my own pace. I still get to go places and I still get to have adventures. But I make the decrees. It’s on my terms now.

I do have to say that Fruitycake is being very patient and is making sure he watches over me all of the time.

He says good morning to me and we start and end our days together.

He’s like my right hand dog. And every king needs one of those.

This stage of my life may not be what I ever thought of. But the stage of being a puppy wasn’t what I thought of either. I never expected to have lived this life when I was in a shelter in that Alabama place in 2009.

Now it’s time to embrace what is still to come in my life and be open to the idea I still have time for wonderfullness.

King Brickle has now decreed we all live life to the full. Wherever in life you are…right now!
