This is Peanut Butter Brickle. Have you had a lot of support during your life? I sure have.
My first six months I was shuffled from the streets to different shelters until my persons found me. But even though those early days i didn’t have a family of my own, there were people trying to help me and my brother and sister.
No one gave up on me even though they weren’t the permanent solution for me. They told me by their actions that they believed in me.
They told me by their actions I should have a home. Even though they didn’t adopt me themselves, they changed my life forever by putting me in the right place at the right time. Fourteen years later and I’m living my best life. I was fortunate to have the support I did.
Fruitycake was not that fortunate. He had to fend for himself for a longer time. He was taken from the streets to a shelter jail with over 600 other dogs. It was not assumed he would find a home. It was assumed he wouldn’t.
It was not the fault of those shelter workers though. Because they were so overwhelmed and frustrated and no one was telling them they should. Or they could.
It was a wonderful thing that our persons saw Fruitycake online and we got him when we did. He still has many issues he has to deal with like allergies and sicknesses and feeling comfortable and safe.
Yes. He’s come a long way.
But when you haven’t been believed in from the start by others, it takes awhile to shake off the doubt.
It takes awhile to get better. Have you ever felt like that? Has someone told you that you should take that chance? Has anyone ever told you that you could? You can. And if you’ve never heard that before, you’re hearing it today.
As we keep working on our goal of moving to that Italy place, it’s been hard to believe in ourselves. It’s been hard to get up the hill of self doubt.
Even if the things we aspire too seem odd or different to others, if you want to try, try! What’s the worst that can happen? You’ll find out if you don’t try.
Life is full of problems. But life is also full of possibility. You should do that. You can do that. And I think that you will.
