This is Fruitycake The Raccoon. This last week has been pretty hard to adjust to. We went from the mountains to the sunshiney of that Florida place.
Not only have we had a change in weather, but we’ve had a change in routine. The persons are getting rid of all kinds of things. Things that they want, but that won’t fit in to our new life in Italy.
Whatever we decide to take, we have to make that commitment that we will carry it up that path to our little house. And so whatever we take has to be pretty important. Very important.
So, our paddle boards have to find a new home here.
And Girl Person’s favorite mixer needs to go to someone who will love it like she did.
That’s just the start. There are still boxes and boxes and stuff to give away and find new homes for. We have a lot of work to do. But that doesn’t mean we can’t have fun while we do all this work. So yesterday, Girl Person put on my life jacket so that I could go for a kayak ride with Boy Person.
Brickle watched me embarking on my adventure from afar. He was perfectly content to watch. He was perfectly content to lounge by the water. My life jacket would not have fit him anyway. One size certainly doesn’t fit all. One size fits one.
What do I mean by that? I’m learning that making someone’s day special means that you have to pay attention to whom that individual is. You have to listen. You have to be in the moment. There are so many ways we can make someone’s day uniquely special. But you have to try. You have to go out of your way. If you aren’t observant, you won’t know how.
I loved my kayak ride. It was special to me.
Because I got to have time with Boy Person.
And Brickle had a special day. He was craving blueberries. And so he got a turkey burger with blueberries and spinach.
That would not have been my meal of perfection. But I loved seeing him happy. One size doesn’t fit all.
One size fits one. Because we all are different. And because of our differences, we also have the opportunity to make someone else’s day uniquely amazing.
In a world that is full of bad news, be a shining light of happy today for someone who doesn’t expect it. And do something special that surprises them.
