This is Fruitycake The Raccoon. What makes you happy? Really happy? Is is a big plate of spaghetti and meatballs? Yes. Happy.

What about a surprise order of Chinese food delivery from a friend? Yes. Really happy.

What about living forever? Oh. That would be the happiest of happy.

But life right now is so difficult. It’s hard. It’s not what we thought would be happening just a few short weeks ago. So do we have reason to be happy? We don’t have a reason not to be. That’s right.

I look at persons and I see them not enjoying some things because they are having problems in life. Yes. We are too. But when that Chinese food delivery came yesterday, there was no reason not to be happy about it.

There was no reason not to be authentically happy.

Because the not so good happenings do not make the good things disappear.

Nope. I appreciate them more.

Let me tell you, when I was a stray, I didn’t have my own bed. But if I found a pizza, it still tasted pretty good!

You see, being authentically happy doesn’t mean life is perfect. It means you appreciate the perfect little moments.

Brickle isn’t feeling his best, but we still have fun. We still get to eat dinner. We still get to bark. And that makes me authentically happy for today.

You don’t need a fortune cookie to tell you what tomorrow holds.

It holds blessings we don’t even know about like surprise Chinese food delivery. Take a bite.
