So You Just Wait For Your Dog?

This is Fruitycake the Raccoon. No matter what day of the week that the persons say it is, well, I believe it’s going to be a great one. I have so much more time to enjoy things now. I don’t have to fight for food or somewhere to sleep. Nope. I’ve got it made. Except for the crazy things they make me try every day. But I’ll save that for another blog. We sure have time for that.

Do you know what else we have time for? Waiting. Waiting for Brickle. Girl Person says his breaks on our walks are nothing new. She says people think it’s because of his age that he just plops down wherever he feels like it. But nope. He just likes to watch things. People. Animals.

But yesterday when he did a break plop on our walk in the campground, I noticed a lady person kept looking at us. And as she got closer she kept looking. She finally, apparently, just had to ask the question, “So you just wait on your dog to get up when he’s ready?” And she was utterly confused.

Girl Person just said “yes”. She told me later that sometimes she really doesn’t feel the need to explain everything. She says she stopped doing that a long time ago.

Simply saying yes would indicate to this lady person that it was normal to do. Correct. Commonplace. And Girl Person said it should be.

Everyone is always rushing to somewhere else. Being slow doesn’t equal being successful in their eyes. But how wonderful it is to wait on someone.

To be patient. To be kind. To linger awhile.

You don’t have to keep up with the pace of this world. I know that. It’s meant for failure. No one stops to enjoy anything.

As soon as you catch up, you’ll fall behind with someone else’s standards. Enjoy what you want. For as long as you want.

Wait for the magic to happen and don’t let it pass you by.
