His Heart Mattered Too

This is Fruitycake. I am happy to report that we have sunshiney today.

I thought that we would never see it again.

But as life has a way of reminding us, your darkest times are usually before your brightest times. And I hope that’s true. Because things have been somewhat difficult lately.

And Girl Person especially has had to keep reminding herself that she needs to keep going for Brickle and the amount of work that it took for him to get here.

And she is reminded of him with all of the hearts she sees each and every day on the beach, the trails, our path and our house.

The hearts remind her to keep him in her heart and to make his house a home again.

Hearts. We all have one. Even the little mouse that we found this morning. He had not lived thru the recent rains. And it made us so very sad when we found him outside the door in a bucket.

The persons really knew that it was their faults. Because they shouldn’t have left the bucket to fill with water. And that it was careless on their parts. Between the bats in the cantina and the mouse, our house is telling us the wildlife need our care too here. And that perhaps, they are part of this story. The little mouse certainly is.

We buried him with a flower by Brickle. And we said a prayer that today, this mouse’s life would matter to someone. That this mouse could teach someone to be more careful for wildlife where they live. And maybe we all can do a check every night before we come inside to check around your own house. And make sure that no one like the mouse needs your help.

Hearts are part of us all. They keep us alive. But everyone’s heart will stop one day. That means today, especially today, soak it all in. The magic of today. The lessons of today. Don’t let anyone or anything guide your heart to bad. Guard your heart and use it for good. And see the bigger picture of your life. Who can you help today? Thank you for your lesson, little mouse. Rest easy, knowing you were loved. We will do better.
