This is Fruitycake Rain, rain and more rain. For those wondering, no. We did not know it rained this much here.
But next year, we will know. And we will be more prepared. I definitely need more blankets.
And the persons need less mud on their clothes and some more pizza. Because pizza is always a good idea.
When it rained yesterday, Boy Person was surveying some situations. He’s been cleaning out the cantina so he has somewhere dry to work and fix things.
But the persons here know and remember that before we got here, there were already others living here in the cantina.
The bats. And although they went somewhere for the winter, they will be coming back. And they won’t understand why the door is going to be fixed. And why their cantina is different.
We are worried about that. So it’s time for the first rescue operation at our house in Italy. To build a bat house for them when they return. It is a more important project even than our house.
We may think because we are bigger than other things like the bats, and that our houses are bigger, that we matter more. But do we? Nope.
We may not want to share our bed or even the cantina with the bats. But it was their house first. And it’s our responsibility and duty to not overlook their importance and right to be here.
So it’s time for operation bat house. We need to get supplies for them tomorrow when we get our supplies for the house and blankets for me. It’s either I get more blankets or I share my bed with the bats. I think you know my decision. My name is Fruitycake. Bats like fruit. Need I say more?
Remember the ones who came before you and who need you. Be kind. Be thoughtful. Don’t be selfish. Build a bat house. Save a beetle. Fill up the bird bath. Do it and be happy to do it because you can.
