This is Peanut Butter Brickle. Oh, I know it’s been a rough week for Girl Person being sick and all. But I really think the rest of us have done pretty well in this family. Especially me and Fruitycake.

We were very patient and I have to say, the best nurses ever.

It wasn’t the partying week like we wanted it to be.
But Girl Person’s body told her in no uncertain terms she had to stop. And so she had to. She had to rest to get better. And although she had a ways to go, she is definitely better than she was. And you know what? Because she had a fever, she even soaked in a bathtub! She took time for herself.
I know it sounds stupid. But maybe it was for the best. Yes. I have talents in seeing the bright side.
I bet no one who would have saw me at the shelter jail place or Fruitycake at the shelter jail place would have thought we would have so many responsibilities and talents in life. I wonder when they named Fruitycake “This Dog” at the shelter if they would have realized his potential.

And me? Well, I was overlooked so much that the shelter thought I might never get adopted. And when we were taking a walk with the persons yesterday, Girl Person remarked how smart I was. How bossy I was when I didn’t want to walk down the same street twice. How unique I was. She said jokingly, “Oh, that dog. We have this dog and that dog.”

Sometimes I wonder about all the many animals in shelters and rescues. And the ones who get out. And the ones that don’t. How much unrealized potential is wasted. How sad I feel about that.

I was fortunate. Fruitycake was too. And we both feel a responsibility just like when we took care of Girl Person this week. We have a responsibility to show the world how unique and deserving of a life all animals should have.

And it’s up to you, to everyone, to spread that message. And you can do that just by your example. Isn’t that a powerful thought?
Be that person who cares and who dares to speak up. Be this person that all animals know they are safe with, cared for and loved.
Well, we leave this wonderful house tomorrow.
We sure have loved it here. So much.

We actually don’t have a place to stay yet. So. Stay tuned. This dog and that dog will figure it out.
