This is Peanut Butter Brickle. I’ve had a little more time lately to reflect on life. I haven’t been feeling the best. So I’ve had to rest. That rhymes. Maybe I was meant to be a poet all of my life.

I’ve spent most of my life traveling. Going from place to place. Going so many places that often, I wake up and I have no clue where we are at.
I’ve also had so many experiences that I share now with Fruitycake. Yes. He’s been a traveling dog for a couple years now. But he’s had a bit of a more luxurious travel style. Back in my day, Digby and I forged paths literally all over the USA. Many times over. And it wasn’t always spaghetti and sunshiney.

Back in my day, the Big Blue Treat Wagon would break down.
Back in my day, we would not find a campsite and have to camp on the side of the road.

Back in my day, I didn’t know that I was making memories. I just knew that I was living.
I just knew that I lived every day to the full.
I didn’t know I was saving up all of those experiences to teach another traveling dog, Fruitycake.

Some of us have gotten older in years. And we may have more time to reflect on our lives. I won’t lie. I never do. I think more time for me sometimes is hard. My mind thinks I’m young. My body says otherwise.
But I do know that part of my time now is meant to make a difference. By showing that senior dogs have value.
That older persons have value. That you can have both a longer life and a quality of life. And you can use your experiences to help someone else now.

Back in my day, things were harder. But they sure were fun.
Recognize the moments of value you had then. Recognize your value now.

I just wanted to ask in the case that it hasn’t come up with Brickle’s vet, has Brickle been vacinated and/or tested for Lyme disease? Painful legs, hips, any painful joint really can be a symptom of Lyme disease.
Even if Brickle has gotten the Lyme vax, PLEASE MAKE YOUR VET TEST HIM ANYWAY BC IT’S STILL POSSIBLE FOR YOUR DOG TO GET LYME DISEASE!
The most common reasons for dogs to get Lyme after vaccination is low or short acting antibodies in the individual dog. Also, if it is the case that Brickle has Lyme disease, HIS PEOPLE SHOULD ALSO GET TESTED! Since you go everywhere that your dogs go, it’s very possible for YOU TO ALSO HAVE BEEN BITTEN BY A TICK WITH LYME!
Many people are bitten by ticks without knowing they’ve been bitten. You don’t always see any indication of being bitten. A person doesn’t always present with the “classic bullseye rash” when they’ve been bitten by a Lyme tick, or the bullseye rash is hidden on your scalp under your hair, or is very very faint. AND, whether or not you can actually remember you or your pups having had a tick on them somewhere, if your dog has been infected by Lyme disease, ASSUME BOTH YOU & YOUR HUSBAND HAVE ALSO BEEN EXPOSED TO LYME DISEASE AND GET TESTED BY YOUR DOCTOR TOO!! I can’t stress that enough. Don’t assume bc you don’t have any symptoms you haven’t been exposed! Bc it can be a very costly mistake for your own future health! Sometimes it takes a while before people start showing symptoms of Lyme. And by then you can be a lot sicker than you may feel.
So, best to be safer than sorry later, PLEASE GET BOTH OF YOUR DOGS & THEIR PEOPLE TESTED ASAP! And make your Dr or vet send the test off to a lab known for having extra sensitive tests. Better to err on the side of caution than not. Some tests don’t pick up Lyme until enough antibodies are made in your system, therefore you or your dog could get a false ‘negative’.
I don’t mean to scare you, just want to prevent you, your vet, or your own Dr from missing anything!!! Could save you A LOT of health issues for yourself & your dogs in the future.
Sincerely Concerned,
Kate McNabb 💗
Brickle I am 83 years old and all crippled up with arthritis bone on bone knees, ankles terrible bad back, bad hips etc. my senior boys are 15 and going on 17. They are my life and the reason I keep going. When you get old sweetheart you just need to take a breath and rest and stop trying to hike up mountains. Please just slow down Brickle and rest now. It is the best thing for you now. I wish you didn’t have to keep moving around all the time. It has to be really hard on you. I love you Brickle and just want you to be ok❤️🐾
