Around The Block

This is Fruitycake The Raccoon. Peanut Butter Brickle keeps telling me that practice makes perfect. He’s telling me not to give up. When I want to give in.

This leash contraption is horrible. I’m just gonna say it. And bark it. I’m not used to it.

Also, what is the deal with not barking whenever I want to at whoever I want to?

How will they know I’m protecting my boundaries if I don’t bark? Can’t we meet in the middle?

Brickle says that there are rules. Made up by persons. And I would like to say that I don’t agree with them. But Brickle also tells me if we want to have adventures we have to follow the rules as best as we can. I guess he’s been around the block a few times. Which is why I had to walk around the block quite a few times yesterday.

Girl Person says she doesn’t want to come across mean. Or irritated. She says she understands I don’t know what is expected. I just want to have fun. But the fun she said is being able to coexist with others different than us. So we can all have fun together.

I keep trying. I’m learning. At first I barked around the block. Then there was no one there so I didn’t bark that time. The next time I did. She said she will take the progress. I say can we lead the persons around the dog park and see how they feel?

The world is a funny place. We are supposed to be ourselves but follow rules. I think I’m starting to understand the trick is to use rules to be kind and considerate. And rules show others we respect them.

I have many blocks to walk. But I’m in this family forever. And as many times as it takes for us to walk this journey together, I know we won’t give up.
