This is Sheriff Peanut Butter Brickle. Have you ever wanted to just go somewhere? Maybe you like to take walks like Girl Person.

Maybe you like to sit outside and watch birds like Boy Person.

Maybe you are like me and Digby Pancake. Our favorite thing to do is go for a ride in the car.

A lot of things have changed since we were adopted by the persons. We’ve moved a lot. We had a house. A cottage. A trailer by the sea. And an RV. That rhymes. Maybe I’m a poet and I didn’t know it. But you know what hasn’t ever really changed? The place that feels like home.

Where is that place for you? For us, it’s where we started. Where some of our family still is. And some of our family isn’t feeling so well lately. And it’s time for a visit.

It’s hard to say why the Tampa, Florida place feels like home. I guess part of it is because we know it. Part of it feels familiar like Digby’s smell that always lingers.

And no matter where we have traveled to the past four years in the Big Blue Treat Wagon, that place is always waiting for us to pay a visit. And although we may not stay forever, some of our hearts do.

We may like the traveling way of life. But sometimes it’s hard work. And it’s nice to know you have a place to rest. A place where others miss you. It’s nice to be missed. Because sometimes we feel lost. Sometimes no one knows where we are…what road we are on. Sometimes we can’t remember a time we weren’t moving.

What feels like home to you? Is it a place? A person? Your friends? Your family? Some of ours is no longer with us. Yes. We miss visiting Boy Person’s dad in this Florida place. And in many ways, it was hard to come back without him here.

Memories come back. They are mostly good. Sometimes not so good. And home for some may be too hard to visit. And that’s ok too. It will be there when you’re ready. Or better left in your mind. There is no right or wrong way to love it. Having a place to go is home.  But when or if you go is up to you.

How long will we stay? Just a little while. Home is hot. Too hot for Digby to stay a long time. But we are on no ones schedule but our own. So let’s see what this next week brings. I’m sure there will be some tears. Some hugs. And oh yeah. You can’t forget the Florida place bugs. Home.
