This is Fruitycake. Do you have favorite foods? I think that by now, you probably know that mine include pizza and focaccia and spaghetti. Good thing that I live in this Italy place now!
But I also have unfavorite foods too. Like peas. I can’t stand them. I can’t get them in my mouth right to chew them, they slip and slide everywhere off my plate or bowl, and generally speaking, they are a nuisance.
But on the other paw, I do understand their good parts. Like they are nutritious. And I do understand how there are good things about the rain too.
But that doesn’t mean I want to stand outside in it all day. Soggy cake is not appealing most of the time.
It’s been dark and raining here in this Italy place. Which makes for a lot of wet clothes. And when there are wet clothes, Girl Person tries to dry them by the stove. And let’s just say she overcooked a few pairs of socks this week. Never thought I would say or write that.
But today, even though it is raining, it is raining less. And less rain means less soggy cake. No. I won’t have the sunshiney I love.
But that doesn’t mean there aren’t good things waiting for me today.
And even if you’re going thru a storm too, that doesn’t mean there are no good things waiting for you too. Look for the piece of cake that is less soggy. And appreciate it.
It’s ok to be happy when things aren’t as perfect as we want.
It gives us something to work toward and to work for. Less soggy cake and less peas please.
