This is Peanut Butter Brickle. I’ve had to tell many individuals goodbye in my life. Some in places I knew I would never be back to. Neighbors at campsites. And family. Over and over and over again.

One thing I’ve noticed with every goodbye in my travels is that I try not to think of it as forever. Saying it out loud, saying goodbye, seems like one of the hardest things I can do. It makes it seem more real. It hurts my heart. And I don’t like to say it.

But this time, leaving family again and even the farm is real hard. Even though I know we can’t stay here forever.
Saying goodbye is a brave thing to do because it hurts. Because you don’t want to. Because none of us truly ever know what tomorrow brings. Except for change.
We have to be ready when it’s time to get to that Italy place. That means we had to finish getting rid of everything but a few boxes. Boy Person did that too.
But it’s starting to get too hot here. And I don’t do well with the heat.

So we will be headed a bit north on Monday. And so we start packing up.
We are saying goodbye to Gandma and Gandpa on Saturday. And many of our friends too. This isn’t easy. I won’t say that it is. But we all have our own journey in life. We don’t have the same journey as our parents. Or our friends. Or anyone else.
We have to make our own way. Saying goodbye doesn’t mean we don’t care. Saying it out loud allows you to feel the pain that comes with loving others so much.

The brave goodbyes are not easy. And it is not fun. So say all you need to say. Show the love you feel. Don’t take it for granted others know how you feel. They simply don’t. One goodbye could be the last goodbye.
The horses here and farm people have been so big in our hearts the last three weeks. But again, we say goodbye.
Who else is out there we will love too? That’s the best part of goodbye. The cycle means new hellos.
Sometimes, feelings are hard. But you have to feel them and experience them to be able to move on. To live what you were meant to do. Give yourself permission for that brave goodbye.
