This is Peanut Butter Brickle. I’ve done a lot of breaking down in my days. Not breaking it down. Breaking down.
When we traveled in the Big Blue Treat Wagon RV, break downs were just part of the adventure.
So when we had another break down yesterday, I wasn’t upset about it. Nope. There was a whole lot of shaking going on. And that’s because one of our tires was about to blow. We knew Slow Ride the car had been a bit under the weather the last week. Temperamental. Not as temperamental as me. But you know. And we couldn’t figure out the problem. Until the problem made itself very clear.
Problems are like that. You may try to figure them out. But you can’t. And so you just put it to the back of your mind. Until it says hey. I’m still here. And hey. You have no choice but to deal with me.
So there we were. About a half hour from our destination when the shaking really got bad.
And loud. And more loud. And we had a choice. We could not move. Or we could go very very slow in Slow Ride about 2 miles from a tire shop who may or may not have a tire.

And that’s what we did. Because sitting there seemed like a bad idea when it was getting close to dinner.
We actually made it there. Holding your breath for that long is hard. But it was very scary. And when we got to the tire shop and they said they had just one tire, we took it!

We sure did. And it was very clear that we were fortunate to be that close to help.

It wasn’t ideal to have to deal with the problem. But we had to.
Life is full of break downs. We can either let it get us down. Or we can learn from it and move on. It’s not ideal right now to be waiting to go to that Italy place. But we are making the best of it.

And we won’t complain about Slow Ride. Because it helps us not to have to rent a car and helps us to save money for that Italy place.

If a problem is on your mind, try not to push it aside. Face it before it faces you. And remember that life will be shakey. Life will give you challenges. But you are stronger than that. If Slow Ride can make it to Robbinsville, North Carolina to give us an adventure this week on the Cherohala Skyway, you can too.
This adventure is for Digby.

And just like old times, it may be off to a rough start. But it’s also starting with moments turned into memories.
