A Lawyer? A Teacher? A King? A Friend.

This is Peanut Butter Brickle. We’ve traveled to many places. We’ve liked some places and we have loved some places.

It’s been such a learning experience to travel and be somewhere new every week for over six years. Yes. I can’t believe it has been that long. But it has been that long.

When we first started to travel in the RV, we went long distances to get to the animal shelters each week.

But as Digby and I got older, we slowed down our pace. And I like it that way.

But this weekend, we had to travel 500 miles in two days. Because of rain and because I needed some cooler weather. And we did what we had to do. That doesn’t mean it wasn’t hard though. It was tiring. It was hard.

Fruitycake was sick. And the roads were full of mountains and hills.

So by the time we got to our campsite in this New York place Saturday night, it was dark. Very dark. Late. Very late. And our campsite? We couldn’t even make out where it was. There were rocks and a creek and holes. And mud. The persons were trying their best to maneuver our giant house into the campsite. But we couldn’t see. And it was scary. Until two persons and their furkid ran over to help.

Our persons aren’t used to accepting help. You might call them independent like me. And yet, these camping persons wouldn’t take no for an answer. They helped our persons for hours. Not only to make sure our RV was safe, but that we all were safe.

We were all tired. Exhausted, actually. They asked if we had had dinner. And offered to cook for us. And they even brought us apple cobbler from the campfire. Fruitycake was so happy his teeth chattered.

Its been a long time since someone helped us so much. And I thought about it. We didn’t know each other. The persons didn’t know each other’s names. What each other’s jobs were. Who was this person helping us? A lawyer? A teacher? A king?! He was helping us no matter what.

They didn’t know where they each were from.

Or anything about each other. Yet, everyone got along. They came together to get something accomplished.

It really was nice to watch.

In a world where we only see the bad, it’s hard to remember the good. The fact is, there are people still out there that help others just to be kind. It doesn’t matter to someone needing help what the job is you have. Or where you are from. Or how much money you have. They need you. Your person. You. Step up when you see an opportunity…or an RV rolling down a hill. Either one.
