The Pie

This is Peanut Butter Brickle. Is a delicious pie the same pie if you eat it by yourself compared to if you eat it with others? Oh. What questions I ask myself each day.

We were supposed to leave this New Jersey place yesterday. The morning went on. The afternoon came. And the persons were dragging. Especially Boy Person. He kept saying he didn’t feel right. He didn’t have the best feelings. And he couldn’t shake it.

So Girl Person suggested that they stay another day. After all, it wouldn’t be the end of the world. And after all, she had made a pie.

Could they even eat it all themselves? I thought yeah. They could. Fruity alone could.

But I also wondered if the pie was a solution to their uneasy feelings. Sometimes, something in life can be really good. But something in life can also be better with shared. Even if that means less for you.

In our case, sharing a pie with friends we might not see again for a very, very long time was more important than getting to a new campsite just to fulfill obligations. What is important to you? A pie all to yourself? Or a slice of life shared with others?

It’s easy to get caught up in what we have to do instead of what we want to do. If you make a pie, share it. If you have more than someone, share it. Share what you have. And get a better taste of life in return.
