This is Peanut Butter Brickle. Some days everything goes easy. Ok. Those days are rare. But there are some days like that. Yesterday wasn’t one of those days for me.
We took a last minute hike to a waterfall yesterday morning. And the persons thought it would be pretty easy. They thought that it wouldn’t be too long. And really, the way down to the waterfall was easy. Yes. We all slipped a few times. But with waterfalls come water. And that’s just part of it.
We had two options to make our way back from the waterfall. And since we knew it had been all downhill the one way, we would have to go back up gradually. But the other way was shorter. Boy Person said he would walk the extra to get the car to pick us up. And that seemed like a good idea to me.
But as we made our way up, the mountain was steep. Very steep. It was hard. Very hard. And even though the distance was shorter, the hike was harder. And we thought we would never get back. Girl Person said this isn’t what she had expected. And it wasn’t for me either. But I also didn’t expect to be able to do it.
I also didn’t expect to want to complete it. I also didn’t expect Fruity to love the challenge. But he did.
Although we didn’t plan for such a hard hike, it felt good to finish. If we would have agonized and planned over the hike beforehand, maybe we wouldn’t have done it. Sometimes it’s better I have found, not to overthink. Not to worry. Just do.
The only expectations you should have in life is to expect to be your best. And I did my best.
Life can bring some unexpected situations. But have the confidence in yourself to take the challenge. Expect that you will pull thru. Expect that you are a rockstar. And you are.
