This is Fruitycake The Raccoon. Have you ever had to move your whole house in the rain? I never thought I would have such a problem. I never thought I would have a house on wheels, either.
But I am finding out when you have stuff, a lot of problems find their way to the stuff.
You have to take care of the stuff and you have to worry about the stuff.
Our persons watch the weather reports a lot. A lot. Because most of what we do is determined on the weather. We have to keep Brickle cool. We have to make sure the Depression Monster doesn’t get Girl Person with clouds and rain.
But sometimes, you can’t control the weather. Ok, I guess all of the time you can’t control the weather. You also can’t always control when you have to move your house on wheels to another campsite or another campground. You have to do what you have to do. Even if it rains for days and hours and more days and hours.
But even as we watched the persons try to move our house in the rain, me and Brickle had had breakfast. We had a walk, even if it was wet. And we waited in the truck with Digby’s favorite quilt while the persons did the person things. And we remembered what Girl Person had told us. When we got to the new campsite, we would have our dinner. She had made us tuna salad. Tuna salad! I had watched her make it that morning and put it in the cooler. I could taste it already!
The rain seemed not so bad. It seemed soothing. It seemed refreshing. The world looked brighter. I thought of a new campsite. And new hikes. And that tuna salad. Yes, that tuna salad. Nothing was so bad when you had tuna salad.
And when we finally got to the new campsite and the tuna salad was brought out, it started raining again. Rain got in that tuna salad. To some, the tuna salad would have tasted less than magic. For us, it WAS magic. It meant we were home again. It meant we were loved.
It meant we were cared about. It meant the world.
Do you focus on the imperfect things in your day? Do you notice what is wrong instead of what is right? If you are fortunate enough to have tuna salad, don’t let some rain drops ruin the magic.
See the magic and taste the magic you are blessed to have. And eat that rainy tuna salad and enjoy it.
