It’s no secret that many of us think of our dogs as our babies.

And although we love them like children, the truth is, they require many of the same mental and physical growth and stimulation to be a fulfilled individual.

Have you ever worked on a crossword puzzle to relax, or read a book for enjoyment? Dogs are no different. Even though they don’t care to read a book, they do need outlets for boredom and enjoyment. Toys provide that at all age levels for dogs.

When we adopted Brickle and Digby from the shelter, neither knew what a toy was or even what to do with them. Did we demonstrate? I admit I did! It’s not the craziest thing I’ve ever done! They soon had their favorites, although they didn’t last so long. We actually had to put a sign by our door for guests not to leave their shoes out. Yes. They thought those were toys too!

So when Tall Tails sent us some toys for the boys, I was excited. We are particular on what dog toys we give them and have our own set of standards. The toys must be made from natural materials. The toys must be nontoxic with no artificial colors. Tall Tails fit all of these requirements.

But do dogs really need toys? Of course, toys are not needed for survival. But they provide benefits to dogs of all ages.

Puppies of course need something to chew on, or they will find something to chew on. The durable Natural Leather & Wool Toys from Tall Tails are perfect!

Whether your pup wants to play a rousing game of fetch, tug-of-war, or lightly nibble for a little while, Tall Tails toys use only sturdy natural materials and stitching to craft their toys. In addition, there are no toxic chemicals, artificial coloring, or simulated flavoring used in the making. If we spend the money to get our dogs toys, we believe they should last and be of the highest quality.

Digby knows many of you think that he is a Labrador Retriever! He is actually a rescue foxhound, so his new favorite toy from Tall Tails made us smile. A fox? You got it. What did the fox say? Digby loves him and even carries him outside.

Tall Tails Plush Toys w/ Squeaker are durable yet fun! he adventure indoors too! Throw, squeak, snuggle, repeat — this plush toy is made with you and your pup in mind. Their plushies make for paw-fect comforting companions. In addition, their squeakers are sewn into a separate pouch and stitched into the seam for extra protection. That’s best for Brickle…his fish won’t be destroyed anytime soon!

Yes. Brickle and Digby aren’t young puppies anymore. Some may even call them seniors! So why are dog toys important to seniors? Their favorite toys provide comfort and mental stimulation when they aren’t able to physically do as much as when they were younger. We like Tall Tails toys for seniors because many are brightly colored and the materials are varied. You wouldn’t want to do the same crossword puzzle every day. So give your seniors a choice. There are so many from Tall Tails to choose from! We think these may be the most impressive dog toys we have tested in terms of quality and attention to detail. That also makes them the perfect gift along with Brickle and Digby’s favorite Tall Tails blankets.

When our dogs are happy, we are happy. Seeing the boys ask for their blankets on a cold day and watching them relax with their favorite toys makes me feel like I am doing something right.

Tall Tails has put together a Gift Guide section within their website to provide customers with options for every budget. No matter what time of the year it is! That makes it easy to narrow down your choices. Digby says his choice after his nightly yogurt barktail is his blankie and fox!

Just like children deserve to grow into fulfilled individuals, so do our dogs. Give puppies toys and watch them grow. Then continue to keep your senior dog’s brain active. Every age of our dogs will bring challenges. But they are more than worth it. We thank Tall Tails for the care that has went into all their products!

A dog that has regular mental and physical stimulation is a happy dog, and happy dogs have very happy owners. Who’s up for a game of fetch?
