The Little Horses

This is Peanut Butter Brickle. Individuals come in all shapes, colors and sizes.

No matter if you are a person or if you are a dog or if you are a cat or if you are even a horse. I know this is true. Now.

But you see, I didn’t always know about little horses and why they can be little. There are different reasons, you see.

I’ve mostly met big horses during my travels. Horses that I still consider close friends, even though we haven’t seen each other lately.

Travel is one of my favorite things to do because not only do I learn about places, but I get to meet the ones that live there. Like the little horses here at camp.

I wasn’t looking to make new friends. The truth is, it’s hard to make friends and then have to leave them. I miss Jack the Kangaroo.

I really do. I really miss our conversations.

But I decided that I would be missing out on an important part of living if I didn’t allow my heart to feel. I would be missing out if I didn’t get to know others. And they would absolutely be missing out if they didn’t get to know me.

So when I saw the little horses in the field at camp just eating grass and being little horses, my heart felt a little flutter.

I knew I had to introduce myself. And even though they were eating, they stopped and acknowledged me and Digby. Even though Digby had breakfast on his mind. Never stand in the way of his breakfast. No matter what size you are.

I thought about the little horses later that night. I really hadn’t worried about their size at the time. In fact, I kinda forgot about it when I was talking to them. But I wondered how many others judged them on just their appearance. Did they have preconceived ideas and opinions about who they were as individuals based on appearance? I just don’t understand.

It’s ok to learn about others and their history and their lives. We do this by asking, by reading, by knowledge. It takes no knowledge for hate. And it’s quite lazy to be that way. Don’t you want to learn how to play the sweetest song of life?

That sweet song is love for everyone.

I’ll be getting to know the little horses more in the next few days. I don’t know much about little horses at all. But I do know we are going to be good friends.

And friends make life wonderful.
