This is Deputy Digby Pancake. Here we are. At the end of another week. I hope that it was a good one for you. But if you’re still here, still breathing and living, it was a very good week.
It rained a lot here in this Florida place all week. In fact, it rained almost every day. And if you know that Depression Monster that tries to get in this RV all the time, well, he was knockin. But we didn’t answer the door this time. Instead, we took drives.
We enjoyed the view.
We got up earlier and went by the rain’s schedule. And at the end of the week, we were still doing alright.
We put a lot of pressure on ourselves, don’t we? We can let the rain of the world fall down right on us! And sometimes, we even put a lot of pressure and weight on those around us, especially when things aren’t exactly going our way. We expect them to be our umbrella.
If we are sad, we sometimes can’t help but give off the sadness ourselves. We may want to feel better, but we concentrate on what’s wrong, like the rain when we want it to go away and it doesn’t. We may want others to fix our sadness.
Girl Person says this is especially easy to do with the ones we live with. We may know each other better than anyone. And we may be closer than with anyone. We may take them for granted. We may start to forget who they really are and expect too much out of them. We may look to them to always make things better. But it starts with our hearts. Each one of us.
I have a secret. I am usually always happy. It’s a very bad day when I can’t muster up a smile or a million.
If I waited till everyone else was happy or waited until they fixed my health problems, I could and would never smile. I am my happy. You are your happy. And you are capable to enjoy the view thru the rain.
Some days will be better than others. But one thing is for certain, we all have a chance to see the world with positivity.
We all have a chance to count on ourselves to make it thru. Don’t put pressure on anyone else..not even your dog, to make your life better. You are responsible for that.
So my last assignment for you this week is stop putting pressure on your dog. Sure…we are there for you. But we also feel everything that you do. Although we want to help, sometimes we need you to help us. That means watching your tone of voice and your mood. That means thinking about how you react to situations in your day and seeing and recognizing that it affects us. Because when we are more observant of our actions and how they affect others, we can see how they affect us too. So make it a great day, a great weekend and a great life. YOU are worth that.
