This is Sheriff Peanut Butter Brickle. There are some words I could bear to hear today. “Your peanut butter cookies are ready.”
“You are the most handsome dog in the world.”
“You are the smartest dog in the world.”
“Who wants ice cream?”
But some words I don’t care to hear? “The Doctor will see you now.”
It’s been said that sometimes, there is no cure for being the most awesome and interesting dog in the world. It’s been said, because I said it.
But sometimes, I have to trust the persons when they tell me that I need to be checked out. I’m always being checked out, though.
Girl Person said that the lump near my tummy is not to be ignored. She said just like my ego, it seems to be getting bigger.
Love is a strange thing. Seems to me, the easiest thing to do when you love someone is not to dwell on the negative. It’s easier to let things slide. To just ignore problems so that life goes on as normal. But that’s not love. Love means taking care of problems. Even if it’s hard. Even if it’s not the easiest thing to do. Because taking care of problems when they first come up may mean longer to be with the ones we love.
My lump may be nothing. My lump may need taken care of. But whatever the case, the persons’ bad case of loving me may help me in the long run. And that’s not a bad thing. It’s a good thing.
Sometimes, the hard thing to do with love is not to ignore things. And so I’m going to get in that car today and face the music.
I will miss Deputy Digby Pancake while I am gone today. But he already had to go a few months ago. He gave me some advice. Act cute. Act sweet. And whatever you do, watch where they put that thermometer.
