This is Fruitycake. Some days have a way of telling you to stop. Making you stop in your tracks. Making you realize you found the mascara.
As you know, Girl Person has been having a hard week. Missing Brickle, memories and a severe anxiety monster about our immigration appointment next week. She’s been doing paperwork and more paperwork and trying to make sure she does the best she can for us to stay. But she hasn’t been doing her best and letting that anxiety monster win. You may remember yesterday that I was trying to get her to even put on mascara. Something she always does. No matter what. And when she doesn’t? Big problem.
Last night, she left bed and went downstairs to sleep again in the tiny couch so she could stop crying. I surprised her by running downstairs and jumping on her and loving her till she cried the happy tears and not the sad ones. I’m very good at that with my wiggly butt.
I kept her comfortable last night, but she was still struggling this morning. We went outside to say good day to you waterfall as we always do.
And when we walked by the ruin of the very old house, something started flapping around and I ran in to see a baby pigeon. But at first we didn’t even know what it was.
We have not seen a bird like this before.
I am very kind to all except wild pigs.
So I did not harm this baby, of course. And when we figured out it wasn’t hurt, but just has not learned to fly yet, we let it rest. Because it was very scared.
After all, I’m the first dog and Girl Person is the first person she has ever seen! Is that not the coolest? It is. And with it comes a big responsibility to put on the mascara!
Girl Person sprung into action. Researching and talking to others who are experts. Right now, we are told the best thing to do is see if the mom comes back to feed her and watch her. To let her be quiet a few hours. Not to stress her. And then we go from there.
Do we know anything about pigeons in Italy? We sure don’t. But we do know that everything else Girl Perspn was worried about is put into perspective. It’s the pigeon that made her remember THIS is what she was meant to do and we will do it.
We will do it no matter what it takes for Brickle and all who need us! If a pigeon had the magic mascara, we can do anything. And we will for you too.

Fruity, finding that pigeon is kinda cool. I sure hope its mother comes back or it’s capable now to fly. You guys are finding lots of interesting things on your property.
