A Lot More Off The Top

This is Fruitycake. What if I told you that it was hot here in this Italy place? Well, I would be stating the obvious. It’s so hot that the eggs fry by themselves.

It’s so hot that Girl Person has to cool off in the waterfall every day.

And it’s so hot that when you have to go get groceries in the next town over on a hot bus and a hot walk and in a hot store with broken registers, you wear you bathing suit underneath your clothes.

And then, when you get back to your town, it’s so hot that you take off your clothes, have Boy Person hold your groceries, and you jump in the sea to cool off.

Yes. That happened yesterday. You have to do what you have to do to keep cool around here. By the time they made it up the path, they cooled off in the waterfall again. Pretty soon, Girl Person was just walking around in a bathing suit. And then, when she did laundry and took off said bathing suit in a bucket, she walked back in the house to me and Boy Person’s shock.

He told her that first, she had clothes on, then it was down to a bathing suit, then nothing, and what was she going to do next? Take off her skin and walk around with just bones on?

It came to her realization that she had not cut enough fur off me for this. And so instead of taking a little more off the top of this Fruitycake, she took a lot off. Anything to help.

Except night is the hardest part. Someone so nice gave us some fans and they help a lot. But when it gets so hot at night, nothing can help. I try the cool tile floor in front of the fans, but this Fruitycake keeps baking. And although I can deal with it, pretty soon, Girl Person, you guessed it, has no top to take off. Boy Person got so hot last night he went downstairs to the tiny couch and wished he was in the waterfall at that point.

Sometimes in life, we can go thru heatwaves where everything seems to be hard. We may not have the answers. We sure don’t right now. But we know we do what we can to make it thru. Every season here has been a lesson learned on what we need to do to even survive.

But just like life, we learn and make it better. Just sometimes you have to take a lot off the top.

Fruitycake

The blog counts on many people and has been supported by the 2 Traveling Dogs family since 2011. It has saved many lives of animals and yes, people that needed us too. But we need your help for it to continue in July.

Costs for the blog far exceeded contributions last month. But if you’d like to help us continue in July, or for the refuge, or even for groceries, all the links are below.

Thank you again for your amazing support.

So sorry it’s so hot there. It’s hot over most of the United States, too. The problem is it came on so fast. Sunday we were in the 50s F and today we are going to be in the upper 80s! Then we are cooling back down. A crazy time. Hopefully, you guys will cool down, soon.

How hot is it? Fruitycake you lost all your beautiful curly coat? Hope you don’t get sunburned now. Did I hear GP say the house is 300 years old? I have to wonder is the weather ever perfect there. Seems like it is too hot or too cold. Is the bedroom done yet with all the pretty orange and yellow? Haven’t seen any pictures of the inside lately. Sure hope you all are going to be ok there. Love you and so sorry everything is such a struggle ❤️🙏🐾
