Mistaken Truth

This is Fruitycake. Just because you have a long week, that doesn’t mean your weekend will be just as long.

So remember that today when you’re looking at a to do list. At the top of the list should be you. You deserve it, I think. Maybe one day I’ll even convince my persons of this.

We had so many things go wrong this week and it would have been the easiest way to give up on all of this..and that would mean to give up on ourselves. We didn’t do that. But we are tired.

Being tired though doesn’t mean you don’t want to do something. Sometimes it’s quite the opposite because you’ve been trying so hard. But I have a secret that all dogs know. Resting doesn’t mean your dream won’t come true. It just helps you to see the truth.

What is truth? I suppose it’s what is right and present. It’s what our hearts already know before our heads do. But sometimes the truth takes a little longer to reach our heads, like a broken down RV.

For Girl Person, one of her many mistakes this week was identifying what we were growing here in our garden. She thought that she had only planted melons. In fact, she was sure of it. But when she sent a picture to a friend, that friend asked if those were yellow squash.

Girl Person said nope, melons. But then, she started thinking. Those plants did look like squash blossoms. And then she remembered those squash seeds. How could she have forgot that? But she did. And when she looked at the other plants and saw melon flowers, the truth was not the truth she was so sure of.

Girl Person says that since we have been here, and away from others, she is seeing them in different ways. Absence may make the heart grow fonder, but it also can help you see the truth in your heart. And we can see how the persons we thought we knew for sure may look different. We can see them in a kinder light, a light of understanding for what they went thru in their own lives and why in this world, when we are all trying to survive, we need understanding.

Mistaken truth. Maybe someone isn’t as flawed as we once thought, even if we were sure we knew the whole truth. We never do.

Now, what will happen to our squash and melons?

We will enjoy them for who they are. No expectations or identity we put on them. And we can do the same for others.

Squash is good! So are melons. Now you’ll have both … if the wild hogs don’t eat them first. it’s one of the down sides of growing you own food. Critters you hadn’t planned on feeding dine on your dinner.
