Yes. I Remember. And I Want You To Know That.

This is Peanut Butter Brickle. Persons think that they have everything figured out in life. The only person I have ever known who did have it all figured out was Digby. Truth.

It makes me laugh to think that regular persons think they know so much about others when they can’t even figure out themselves.

When I hear persons say that dogs don’t remember things, I think about how many times I’ve heard them say that. And how I remember that.

The truth is, whether you want to hear it or not, we do remember. We do not forget. Ever.

And this weekend I wanted to make sure that my persons knew that I remembered a place we had hiked at many years ago with Digby.

It wasn’t my favorite hike then. Honestly. Nope. And it wasn’t my favorite hike yet again. Yes. I was glad Fruitycake got to see it.

But I wasn’t glad I had to climb that hill. At first we went another way that I had not been on. And I was ok with that. But the other trail was the same. And I wasn’t into it. And I made sure..very sure…they recognized the fact that I wasn’t fooled.

The hike took twice as long because I went twice as slow. And so that gave them more time to see my memories. And when we were finally done with the hike, hours later, I surprised them one more time.

Because a random spot there was very special fo me. Very special. Digby and I had a nice rest by the creek at that spot. And I went out of my way to go back to that spot. Girl Person looked at me and thanked me for being so kind. So thoughtful. And for remembering. Of course I did. I never forgot.

I think persons feel bad sometimes that we remember. But we don’t focus on your mistakes. We focus on your love. We always remember that. We always do. Yes. I remember. And I want you to know that.

So be more responsible when it comes to a relationship with your dog. Remember that above all else.
