You Must Brush It Off. But Watch Your Feet.

This is Peanut Butter Brickle. Experiencing hardships in life can get you down.

You can fall down. You can get dirty. Especially if you are Girl Person. She really falls a lot on the trails. Like yesterday. And the day before. And the day before that. You know what I’m talking about.

I am not saying that I never fall. In fact, the falls come often lately. It’s not because I’m not watching my feet. Oh, I am. I should have been a model. Everyone wants to watch me walk.

But my feet just don’t cooperate with me all of the time now. Sometimes, just like Fruitycake needs help across the water, I also need assistance.

That’s ok. That’s what family does. That’s what friends do. They help.

And they help you no matter the reasons you got to that place. But when you’re in that place, they come to you. They lift you up.

But what about yesterday when Girl Person fell on the trail? She didn’t want to fall again. So not only did she have to brush herself off once she put her pants back on that got torn off,

but she also decided she needed to watch her feet more. So that it didn’t happen again. I’m not counting, but I only see one pair of pants in the suitcase she is carrying with us right now. So she better be a little more careful.

I think hiking can teach you a lot. You have to pay attention. Like that you need more pants and non slippery shoes.

You also have to plan. You have to navigate. You have to keep going. There’s no choice. Brushing yourself off when you fall is great. But watch your feet. And try not to let it happen again.

Things are like that with this Italy place right now.

We have had a lot of setbacks. And we keep getting back up. But we also realize some of our decisions haven’t been exactly right. We can’t say that we have known what in the world we are doing. We’ve never done this before.

But we’ve had friends and family to lift us up. And now, well, we watch our feet. We keep going. And we won’t turn back. We’ve come this far. And it’s been quite a hike. But the best scenery is to come.
