This is Fruitycake The Raccoon. Well. Brickle may think that he is the picture of handsome. And I will not disagree out loud with that. After all, his coat of many colors is only getting better with age.
But one thing that he doesn’t have is a shirt. Sure. I may be wearing a shirt because I scratch too much and have a lot of healing to do. But hey. If the shirt fits, I say, wear it. And look good while you are getting better.
Girl Person tells me that it’s going to take a little while to get all of the way better. She said when you have allergies and cut that stuff out, you still have to heal.
She said it doesn’t happen immediately, even if we want it to. She said healing is a journey. A trip all on it’s own.
It also looks like I am going to have to get shoes to wear when I’m in the grass. Since I’m allergic to that. And I have to wear a shirt sometimes as my fur is growing back.
I suppose that healing from the inside out is something we all have to do sometimes. It may be emotional healing if you have been thru something. It may be a long time before you feel like yourself again.
And maybe you can’t completely ever be back to the way you were before. I know. Because as much as I want to forget some of the things that I have been thru, I won’t ever forget completely. I’ll always have to protect myself from giving in to the negative feelings.
I’ll always have to wear an emotional shirt.
Whatever we can do to protect ourselves on the inside, we have to do. If certain things make you feel bad, or anxious, take a break. Sometimes, Girl Person gets panic attacks in grocery stores. She says it’s a lot. And some weeks, she just has to go to small stores and markets. And that is what she has to do, even if it takes more time and more trips to get what we need.
If the shirt fits, wear it.
