When You Turn Around

This is Digby Pancake. Do you have a one track mind like me?

Or are you like Brickle and you think about a million things at once?

Or maybe you try to do a million things at once.

When we go hiking, I go hiking. I walk. I smell. I move forward. I don’t look back because I’m only thinking about what’s next.

But Brickle takes his time. He stops. He stares. He watches. He thinks about everything he is looking at. And because Girl Person makes us keep going eventually, Brickle has to move on. But always…always…he looks back. He looks back at where we were.

I’ve never understood why he does this. In my opinion, there is so much to see and do, why would you want to look back?

So I finally asked Brickle about it. And he told me that he wants to remember where we came from. If he likes it, he wants to take a picture in his mind.

If he doesn’t like it so much, he takes a lesson from it. And leaves it there.

Do you take lessons from where you’ve been? You may never be there again. Do you want to remember it? If so, don’t keep going. You’ll have to stop like Brickle. You’ll have to turn around. If I can do it, you can too.

Some may always prefer to keep going because it’s easier not to feel the feelings. And while we do have to move forward, we won’t be able to until we look back and remember where we’ve been.
