This is Deputy Digby Pancake. There are originals in life that deserve respect. Innovators. Path makers. Risk takers.
Not me. I prefer to watch others work their magic. Maybe you’re like that too. Maybe you like to sit on the sidelines cheering others on.
But I found out this weekend that we all are being watched. We all are influencing others whether we want to admit it or not. We can be a big bowl of sour grapes. Or we can be a big bowl of Tutti Frutti ice cream. You know what I’m picking.
That’s right. I heard about this singer. And he liked to sing loud. And bravely. And he was always excited about something.
In fact, his songs were so good, other singers did their own versions.
Some people didn’t like his singing. Some people told him he should fit in more. But he didn’t listen.
I suppose he was singing too loud to listen anyway. Instead, he kept being who he was.
He didn’t worry about what others thought. And because of that, his influence made others more creative. Made others be their best versions. Just by being himself.
It’s not always easy to be ourselves. It’s a lot of pressure. If we aren’t being ourselves, others may not know that. But the responsibility comes into play that others watch us.
They see a personality whether it is real or not.
Don’t we want to use that influence we have for good? Don’t be fake. Be real. Be the big bowl of ice cream you are.
When we are real, the possibilities of what we can do are endless. It takes work to be fake. It’s much harder to be fake. And the world would be missing out on who you truly are. Don’t wonder what you could have accomplished and how you could have made the world a better place. Be you and see what happens.
Just because the flavor of Tutti Frutti ice cream is rare to find doesn’t mean it’s not delicious.
Others may be fake. Others may not realize the impact of being their true selves. But you do. And I’m expecting something great. You don’t have to be famous to influence others. You don’t have to be rich to make a difference. You just have to be you.
