Stretching

This is Deputy Digby Pancake. Oh, I love to stretch. Especially first thing in the morning when I just wake up.

I love to stretch out in the grass and the sunshiney.

But persons? It doesn’t seem like stretching comes to easily to them. But they are learning. And to the ones that are not learning, let me take you to the school of stretching.

Everyone is stressed out. Everyone is worried. And everyone is buying up, well, everything. Now I understand about panicking over the possibility of running out of pancakes. But come on. Some of this is a little overboard.

It would seem to me that one of the things we could all learn during this is appreciation. And how do you show appreciation? By not taking someone or something for granted. By not wasting resources or time with them. By stretching. By conserving. By being good individuals. Realizing it’s not about getting as much as we can. It’s about making what we have last. And enjoying it. Not just consuming it.

True. True. I’m not one to savor a bite of anything. But even I know that every bite is important now. I see the persons making sure we have enough to eat. But we only have so much room in this Big Blue Treat Wagon RV!

So we don’t buy a lot. And the truth is, there should be enough for everyone to go around. So thinking before we buy and knowing if we really need those things are important. Because someone else may need them more. Isn’t it a better feeling to be kind over being selfish?

Camping has taught us to live simple over the years. Nothing is taken for granted. And as the world seems to learn that we have to be not only kind to ourselves, but kind to others, hopefully we are learning to appreciate and not panic.

After this is over, will we have learned that we don’t need so much to get by? Will we know more about ourselves and how we can be better?

Stretching may be relaxing during exercise.

But it may not be so easy for you to do. Because you haven’t had to as much before. I get that. But we all can learn and be an example.

Make every supply count. Think before you spend. And stretch what you are fortunate to have. That include the ones you love. Don’t waste a minute.

Alcohol based hand sanitizers (with at least 60% alcohol) are increasingly difficult to find. They also excel at drying out your hands and are not as effective as saponified oil based cleaners (high quality soap) for hand hygiene. It may surprise you to learn that your dog’s organic shampoo is actually MORE effective in killing viruses (including the SARS-CoV-2 virus responsible for causing COVID-19 disease) when you use proper hand washing techniques than those harsh alcohol based hand sanitizers or detergent-based cleansers.
