This is Deputy Digby Pancake. I’m not the only one around here with a routine that’s been interrupted. Maybe you love me so much that even your routine was changed because you were worrying about me.
Well, I’m here to tell you that it’s time we pull this together. How are we going to do it? Let me sleep on it first because that has been sorely missing around here.
First I was sick and I’m still on medicine that makes me get up all night. Then Brickle got sick. For two nights, he had to go outside at different times than me. I suppose we could have used better time management, but such is that. We had to usually go out not once. Not twice. But three times. And Girl Person was there every time. Sometimes with enough time to put on pants. Sometimes not. It’s not important anyway.
Finally, last night, Girl Person prepared her nightly couch spot. She figures that it’s the best chance of making it outside in an emergency if you are closer to the door. But last night? All was still. All was quiet. No one had to go out. Not even Brickle!
Girl Person was so tired that she didn’t wake up till her alarm went off very early. You see, she thought that since our routine was so off, that part of why Brickle wasn’t feeling all better was that he wanted to go somewhere. Anywhere.
Problem is, if we don’t leave very early, this Florida place gets so hot that you can’t go. Anywhere. And so up and at em’ we were. And the world seemed brighter. Full of any possibilities! If a lion could sleep all night, certainly the day was going to be the best. Full of old routine that seemed pretty perfect.
We have a long way to go to be back to normal. And the truth? Our new normal may not be our old. But if that’s a good thing when you live in an RV…you can adjust, move, get to the place you need to be. Maybe that’s somewhere cooler. Maybe it’s a new adventure. We don’t know. For now, we wait on the doctors and more tests next week. And we will try to get some sleep. There will be nights we may not have sleep though. And Girl Person says that’s ok. We just have to find different times to catch up. Love can conquer all? Oh, yes it can.
Routine is well…routine. Until it is taken away. Think about the little parts that make up your days and nights. And appreciate them all.
