This is Fruitycake. What wakes you up every day? Why do you want to get out of bed? I have to admit that bed is a pretty good place to be. So it has to be something good.
This morning, the sunshiney was sunshineying. And the sky was blue. And the birds were singing.
And the snakes were snaking.
That’s right. The snakes. The big snakes. The snakes were soaking up the sunshiney just in time for Boy Person to almost step on one. A real big one. And as Girl Person was trying to wake up, she heard him screaming and laughing and then saying, “I hope I didn’t hurt you, are you alright?” And she knew that it must be a creature of some sort!

The big snakes were just trying to enjoy the day too. And as they slithered under the rocks, I watched them. I admired them from afar. Which is how we both preferred our relationship.
Someone may look different than us or talk different than us. Just like that snake didn’t want to hurt me, the majority of others don’t want to cause harm either. But we may be scared of someone because the way we have been raised or taught. It’s our responsibility not to give in to being lazy by not learning more about someone. Kindness may mean knowledge.

Let your first thoughts in the morning steer you on the path to kindness today.
Just like the snakes rode at dawn today, so can a new way to be kind to others. I’m on it! But I’m not gonna be on a snake.

Hey, Fruity, speaking of snakes. Here in the rural area in Olympia, Washington, we have garden snakes; little, black, thin snakes! They are very fast and scare the shit out of me! I don’t think they bite, but I’m not going to stop long enough to find out! I think you, Fruity, could handle these guys. Hope you all have a great day!
