This is Fruitycake. I get asked a lot of questions each day. I get asked why I am so cute most often.
But Girl Person has a habit of asking me “who is that”? And she asks me this all day. The only other person here besides me and Girl Person is Boy Person. So who else could be here? it’s a ridiculous question, but one that even I find endearing.
However, yesterday, I did wonder who in the world was taking a nap on my tiny couch.
I don’t even remember the last time Boy Person took a nap. And yet, there he was on my tiny couch with the dog sheet. Sleeping and looking quite tired. Quite tired.
Monday was hard on both of my persons.
Hard on Girl Person for having to carry the groceries and water on the bus and for a few miles.
And hard on Boy Person as he carried them up the mountain. Chopping wood and all of their other daily duties really made me tired looking at them.
But for them to take a break is a rare occurrence. And especially not Boy Person. So I asked myself “who is that”? And I took a nap too to sleep on it.
We may see things that others need to do. I know that I see it. But everyone has to learn on their own time. And hopefully before it’s too late.
All you can do is offer them love and support while encouraging them to see themselves how you do. And to give themselves a break.
Just as we are working on this abandoned house, we are working on ourselves.
The persons have abandoned themselves for many years already. So as I sit and watch the waterfall today, I’ll hope for more naps.

Fruity, sometimes us humans get overwhelmed with the stuff we think has to be done NOW. But we know that not everything can be done at the same time. Yesterday, I realized, I can’t do it all. My neighbor came by and she asked if some bags needed to go to the recycling bin and I said yes, and before I told her I’d get them later, she just picked them up and off she went. I know I need to ask for help, but I’m pretty stubborn. She knows that and that’s why she did what she did. Friends are get!
