Grandpaw

This is Peanut Butter Brickle. I’ve been called many things. That’s for sure. I’m not sure if I agree with what the Amazon delivery driver calls me when I bark at him so much.

I’ve wore many hats. That’s also for sure.

I have a coat of many colors.

I have a personality with many flavors.

But now, I’m embracing where I am in my life and this season. I accept it. I’m not fighting against it any longer. I’m me.

Why have I come to the realization that I love where I’m at in this season of my life? Because I can relax more. I get what I want. I get to lounge around more. Just call me Grandpaw.

Grandpaw. Yeah. I like the sound of it. I like the look of it. I mean, who wouldn’t? I have the most dashing gray eyebrows and my gaze with these brown eyes combined with my older gentleman persona can break any heart.

Fruitycake may have the youthful glow. But I have the old man flow.

And if I have no choice but to be this age, it’s time I respect it. And it’s time I respect myself. Because it took a lot of work to get to this age.

I’ll be 15 person years in April. And the year 2009 seems like so long ago to the persons. But not me. I still have the drive and the desire to learn and to explore. But I also have the drive and desire to boss Fruitycake around and yes. The persons too. I earned this. There is a lot of knowledge in these years.

And I can either ignore that I am a Grandpaw. Or I can listen to my heart and make others see that a senior dog still has value. And a person too. And that’s what this Grandpaw chooses to do. There’s a certain sweetness that comes with any age and any stage in life. You have to choose to see it.
