This is Digby Pancake. I’ve been lost in the woods a few times in my life. Not that I was lost because I didn’t knew where I was going…because I did. I just wasn’t going anywhere in particular and the persons didn’t like when they couldn’t find me quickly. This is a big talent of many dogs.
You might say that not only did they lose me every time they were looking for me, but they lost time too.
But as the years have went on, I’ve grown older and wiser. I don’t try to make a break for the woods that often. Only sometimes.
So when we went on a new hike with Boy Person yesterday and he got a bit confused and turned around, I had to wonder. Was he lost? Or was he confused? Seems to be since he was losing time, the risk of a wrong decision would have been preferable to the terror of indecision. But nope. He kept looking at his map. Wasting time.
He had spent so much time looking at maps he didn’t understand that to find his way back that he lost even more time. If he would have just picked a way to go, even if it would have been wrong, he would have gotten back sooner.

We all have to decide what is worth more to us. Losing time by agonizing over a decision or doing something. Anything.
Don’t we want to live and not just think about living?
Don’t be paralyzed by your own thoughts. Don’t waste precious time. It goes by very fast.
Take chances. Risks. Go that extra mile.
You may just find out that you enjoy it more. You may find out you love those you meet along the way.
You don’t need a watch to know what time it is. It’s time to make that decision.
