I’m Getting Older Too

This is Fruitycake. I am remembering Brickle so much the last few days, especially. This is not going to be an easy week for us here. But, the hard things in life sometimes have to happen. And I’m here to help.

This time last year was just not the best. I’ll say that now to get it over with. Brickle was sick and needing help to go to sleep.

The hard things of being in a new country and up on a mountain with no electric or water was not the issues. Those things didn’t matter.

The only thing that mattered was saying goodbye to Brickle in a respectful and loving way. That being said, it doesn’t mean it wasn’t the hardest day ever. And now that the calendar says tomorrow it’s been one year since that date, we are all just remembering too many sad parts when we should be remembering only the good. But…it’s not that easy. I wish it was. Truly.

But here’s the thing. I’m getting older too. I’m right here.

The persons were looking at me yesterday and talking about how I’m looking older and wiser lately.

They said I’m really starting to be a little bit more mature. And time hit them right in the heart.

I’m getting older too. And now is my time. Brickle would want me to have the time of my life now while honoring him.

I will do that. Will they? They are getting older too.

Tomorrow might be difficult to navigate. But we are used to traveling this road of life, aren’t we? Travel is in our name.

We have to get ready for our trip on Thursday and our appointment on Friday. Will it work out? We don’t know. It’s one step at a time.

Just like Brickle took. If he made it here, we can stay here.

It may take some time and work and strength we didn’t know we had. But we are all getting older. Now is the time to live.

It’s a great idea to take some time off and reflect on Brickle and Digby. To spend some special time with Fruitycake and to rest. Your week can’t help but cause some angst. I believe in you and your wonderful ideas. Stay strong.

Fruity, you need to tell your humans that taking tomorrow off would be a good idea. You all have been going 24/7; you need to rest both your bodies and your minds. Tomorrow would be the best day to just post: time-out. The anniversary of any major event in our lives is the hardest day; with time your body and mind heal. You don’t cry because they are gone you cry because you remember them. And you smile as your grief turns to memories. And eventually, the day isn’t as important as the memories. So now, take tomorrow off. We will still be here; we will be grieving, too. TAKE TOMORROW OFF.
