Who Is That?

This is Fruitycake. There are many questions I have every day.  Why is there never a pizza bar like a salad bar?

Why is the sea so angry sometimes?

And another question I have is why dogs don’t have to wear pants.

But a question I do know the answer to gets asked of me all of the time. Every time Boy Person comes to bed, Girl Person asks me “who is that?” Or when Boy Person walks into a room and I’m happy to see him, she says “who is that? Your best friend?” Ok, seriously. I know who he is.

But does she? After yesterday, her thinking cap may need some repairs. And I have a feeling I’m going to get asked this question even more. Great. But I have no one to blame but myself.

You see, I do not, I repeat, do not, like loud, startling and surprising noises. I grew up in a city all by myself in that Florida place and I had to survive.

It was hard, and if I heard a loud noise, that meant run. Run away fast.

And even though I am safe now, I still get flashbacks. I still have that reaction.

And yesterday, as we were headed to get some supplies, a man person was unloading a delivery van at the same time Girl Person was admiring some pretty shoes in a store window.

Help us here

All at once, the delivery man dropped his bags of terror with a loud thud, and I jumped and pulled Girl Person’s head right into that glass window full of shoes she couldn’t buy anyway.

She went down in another motion, fell on both knees and then her head again. I know this, because I was under her. The delivery man ran over to help her yelling Italian, more people ran over yelling Italian at the delivery man, and Girl Person was pulled up by me trying to get away, all the while saying all was good. “Tutto bene, tutto bene!”

Boy Person was in a store and heard nothing. We went over to a bench and she was sick and throwing up, making more of a spectacle on the whole situation. “Who is that?” I pretended I didn’t know her.

When Boy Person came over to the bench, she didn’t ask “who is that?”. He was asking what is wrong? And she had to explain. We tried to get her some water and food and rest. But her head was hurting and her legs were black and blue. We got her home and we are pretty sure she had a concussion. And she is still a little confused. Well, more than normal, that is.

Mishaps can happen any time. And most often, they are when we least expect them.

I’m pretty sure today she should rest and she will a little bit. She’s dizzy and more confused about that guy that keeps coming to bed and showing up in rooms. But we all need a reminder now and then. Life can change in an instant! Be aware that no day is guaranteed. And don’t break a glass window with your head. Cause you may end up buying all those shoes after all. See? Could have been worse.

Oh, my, Fruity! That was quite a day! I really think Girl Person needs to go to see a doctor as soon as possible. A head injury is nothing to fool around with. Please go to the ER and get checked out. Especially, since you were throwing up. I’m not a doctor, so I just know the symptoms of a concussion because my brother played hockey and hit his head once and my mom who was a nurse, keep him up to watch him. Anyway, you know what’s best for you. Take care and Fruity, try not to jerk your leash.
