This is Peanut Butter Brickle. A place to rest your head is nice, isnāt it? Whether itās your bed or your personās bed, itās nice to have a place to sleep. Unwind. Charge up for the next day.
But what makes you relaxed? Do you wait for the perfect set of circumstances before you allow yourself time to rest?
If you are like me, you worry till you canāt worry no more. You think about all of the things you could have done and should have done and what you wonāt get to do. This is exhausting. Even to those around us.

But what happens when you simply won’t get those perfect circumstances youāve waited for? Maybe itās a dream that really canāt come true. Maybe you wish you still had your lakeside campsite.

But instead, you have to move to a creekside campsite that really isnāt on a creek?

Yes. You might have guessed we had to move campsites quite a few times this weekend. It was tiring.
But not just that. I missed our first campsite. We missed our view of the lake. We really missed it!

And as I was sitting in our creekside campsite that wasnāt really on a creek, I thought about all of the opportunities I used to have. I used to be able to watch that lake and people swimming and boating. It seemed like it had all been a dream.
Yes. I was feeling pretty sorry for myself. Quite obviously, I liked the lakeside campsite better. I just did. I felt like a failure that we did not make reservations far enough ahead of time to be where we wanted.
We didnāt plan. We didnāt do anything but go with the flow and thatās what caused our campsite debacle. We weren’t very organized.
You see, sometimes, we all make mistakes in life. We overlook things. We donāt appreciate things.
We take things for granted like a lakeside campsite.

But beating ourselves up for those mistakes makes our days bad now when there are still good things about it. No, my dream of the lakeside campsite may be a distant memory. But I can still sleep at night knowing I appreciate the creekside campsite that really isnāt by a creek. Details, details. Because I have a place to sleep. A place to lay my head. A home. And not everyone can say that.
When we complain about what we donāt have, it can make others feel bad about the things they are thankful for. So sleep good at night knowing that even if you made a mistake or a few mistakes, where you are can still be pretty good. Where you are can still be enjoyable.

Where you are, you should be able to rest at night knowing you did the best you knew how to do at the time. And donāt let this time slip away.
Lakeside of creekside? They can both be good. It’s what you do with your time there that counts.
