This is Peanut Butter Brickle. Some days are hard. Some pancakes are hard. But Digby Pancake will still eat them.
The same is with today. We knew that we couldn’t have the Big Blue Treat Wagon in our lives forever.
But it’s still hard to say goodbye.
It’s still hard to take that last ride today to that Camping World place.
Changes are not easy sometimes. We get comfortable.
We may have doubts. And it might be easier to just not change. To not feel the emotions that come with change.
Big Blue has kept us safe for many years. But just like us, she is getting older.
She needs more care like we do. She needs new adventures like we do.
So the decision for her to go to another family was the right one. And she understood.
We know she did.
Nothing in life is permanent. Boy Person says this all the time. So if that’s the case, why is it so hard to say goodbye today?
Because we leave part of our lives in her. Memories. Laughter. Crying. Maybe some dog hair.
But we will also be picking up a new family member. One that will help us be more comfortable to travel for the next year. One that will need a name. One that we will grow to love. Just like Big Blue.
So won’t you come with us on that last ride today? Let’s show her how much she has meant to us. Let’s do this!
And let’s try not to cry.
