I Can’t Do That Too

This is Fruitycake. Some things scare me. Like loud noises and no focaccia.

But other things surprise me that scare me. Like when the persons say that they can’t do something.

Yesterday, me and Girl Person went to school a few towns away which means buses and trains. It also meant a lot to tourists arriving and walking.

We need your help to continue the blog in May here

Boy Person had to go get fuel for our generator and water to drink. All of that was very heavy when you have to carry it all back. But he also made room to get Girl Person some fresh pasta too.

We all walked back together home and it took us a few hours because we had to rest a lot.

We finally made it back to our path and had a third mile up too. We then realized that we still needed wood for the night to keep us warm and more chores. Am I complaining enough yet?

Well, I don’t mean to. But some days just make you tired. And when it was time to walk me after dinner, it had only been an hour we had been home. Which meant another walk down the path and back up again. And Girl Person decided she could not do that. And I was thankful for once she said she couldn’t do something.

Why was I thankful? Because her and Boy Person are finally starting to understand they have limits. And that’s big. Very big. Because if they don’t slow down and use their energy more wisely, we won’t be able to fix the house. They need to fix themselves first.

This place has taught us so much, just this week alone.

And yet, the biggest lesson is that we have to slow down. We can’t do it all. We can’t do everything every day. And so tomorrow, when Girl Person has to get groceries, she will have a little more energy for that. And only that. Each day will be scheduled better.

If you don’t know your limits, you won’t ever find out your full potential. Use your energy to live, not just to survive!

Use your energy to live, not just to survive! Very wise words that we all should start to understand and do. Like yesterday, I needed to take a shower, but once I put the water to the shower head, it sprayed all over the bathroom! It hit the ceiling and the walls. But instead of stopping, I finished my shower, shut it off , got dried off, mopped up with a couple of towels. Because I’m so short, I will need a ladder to get up to the top of the shower to tighten it up. I guess it’s time to ask my neighbor for help.
