The Poisonous One

This is Fruitycake. If you read the blog yesterday, you’ll know about the little, bitty pig.

But what you may have missed is the poisonous one. The poisonous one that was a part of the little, bitty pig’s story.

The poisonous one was a mushroom. They call it a death cap mushroom.

And it grows a lot here, especially this time of year. The poisonous one was not trying to hurt anyone. In have, even a mushroom called a death cap mushroom can be good for others. It is good for trees and helps them to grow. It also may be a medicine for that cancer monster one day.

But to the little, bitty pig who was hungry and ate it, it was not good. It caused the little, bitty pig to go to sleep and not wake up. But the poisonous one, the mushroom, could not benefit anyone else after that either. It was also gone.

Some may look at the poisonous one, the mushroom and be mad at it for simply existing. But there can more than one side to everyone. Even the poisonous one.

There may be poisonous ones in our lives. Ones that aren’t necessarily bad ones. But bad for us. There may be poisonous ones who don’t mean to be that way, but they are. We have to protect ourselves and also know ourselves to understand what can poison us.

If you know a poisonous one, stay away. Don’t take chances hoping they can change. A death cap mushroom can’t be anything but a death cap mushroom. It can’t be anything good to the ones who don’t need it. Rest in peace, little, bitty pig. Know that you served a lesson and the mushroom does too. For you see, the poisonous one may have caused you to go to sleep. But it didn’t take away your light and your story.

The little mushroom stayed away

It hid in the forest and didn’t want to play

It wanted to help the trees and be a part

Of the earth’s cycle and its danger it took to heart.

Even though it tried to stay away

The little, bitty pig found to one day

It took a bite and went away

But one bite was all it took

One bite was just not right

So the little, bitty pig

Fell asleep just like the night.

The poisonous one

Was no more that day

But serves as a reminder

From some,

We must stay away
