Is It A Cage?

This is Fruitycake. It’s getting a little quieter in this Italy place. The visitors who come to make traffic and spend money on pizza are slowly getting less and less.

In some ways, it’s nice to have some life in town. In other ways, I’ll be happy when it’s my town again. When I can have the beach all to myself again!

Yesterday, I saw something I haven’t seen before. There was a hiker that had her companion with her. Not a dog, but a cat. A cat in a cage on her back.

Yes, a cat on her back. I love cats. In fact, I love all animals except wild boars. Wild boars are not my best friends. But I am that someone must call them a friend. Who is that? Just wondering.

But I felt kind of guilty when I saw the cat, in fact. Besides my rhyming ability, I also have the ability to walk and not be in cage. Ever. Not everyone has that privilege.

What do I mean? All of us have individuals around us. And those individuals can support us by letting us be ourselves and by giving us space to grow. Or individuals can try to put us in a cage to fit what they think we should be.

We can disagree with others and still be their friends because there is so much to disagree about! The persons have politics and religion and health differences. Cats and dogs have our differences too. But we can still be friends. You can still be friends with others and not put them in a cage.

Im glad that cat in the cage on someone’s back liked her ride. I’m sure she liked it better than walking on the ground with lots of persons. To each our own. But don’t put others in a cage they don’t want to be in.
