This is Fruitycake. I’ve been on double duty the last couple of days. I’ve been doing the work of many dogs.

Trying to make Girl Person happy and trying to look out for Boy Person too.

They both seemed to get tired and sad all at the same time. And up here, on top of the mountain, you can never take a full day off. Because we have to survive.

But I did make Girl Person take a day off from the blog yesterday. Because all she was doing was crying and saying how she didn’t contribute anything. She kept saying she wasn’t sure she could do it all anymore. And you know what? I told that no one was asking her to do that but herself.

I told her she couldn’t do the blog yesterday. That was one thing off ber plate. But as usual, she says she worries about what she can put on our plates. And I said enough is enough. She had to rest.

So for once, she actually listened to me. And I was relieved. We rested on my new couch. And we had tea. The rain was pouring down. But we made it thru the day. And that in itself was a win.

You know, I think the persons have made a lot of progress.

Yes. They absolutely have made mistakes. They absolutely have been grieving for Brickle and letting that grief paralyze them some days.

But they’ve done a lot too. They’ve kept trying to learn the language and get used to another country. All while getting water from a waterfall, dealing with no electric yet and not giving up. Not giving up. That’s a win.

Someone told Girl Person it was time to go home. This is home.

And this waterfall? If it can flow and exist, and we are here to experience it, how fortunate are we?

How lucky are we to be able to have the goal of helping wildlife here and of being a refuge? How hard will we have to work to get there? Oh, much harder. And we have a long way to go. It is kind of like the bat boxes. Our first project here.

To save money, Boy Person made the planks from trees. We use what we have.

And we don’t mind. But the wood warped and he had to work even more. Even longer. We make mistakes. We learn. But we never give up.

You can’t give up either. You have the strength within you to survive and withstand the forces of negativity.

Being happy is much more powerful. And fun!

Enough is enough with the bad vibes. You are strong just like my persons. It’s my job to remind you. And I just did.
