When we adopted Fruitycake, he had all types of health issues. His life on the city streets had taken its toll. He has few issues from that time now, but you may notice that his front teeth were worn away. We don’t know why. But it just adds to his cuteness and fruitiness.
Back then, he ate just about anything he could get his paws on! But now, four years later, he needs a bit of coaxing to eat. He’s become quite the fine diner. And unless I exclaim “ta-da”! and tell him numerous times that the meal is for him, he hesitates to eat. Most recently, it has taken me singing to him, and I’m afraid to admit, dancing as well to get him to eat all of his food.
Imagine my anxiety at leaving Fruitycake with Boy Person starting May 15th for three weeks. I know this surgery is beyond necessary, but I’m writing a list and checking it twice, then checking it a hundred more times. What’s on the list? A song list variety that may come in handy for meal times.
Isn’t it amazing the things we do for our dogs and pets? It is. And it’s also a privilege. I’m sure you feel the same way.

This is going to be a hard few weeks! Many wonder why I have to travel to the states and why I’m not taking the boys with me for those weeks. In case you missed the blogs, the surgery was not covered by insurance and it was double the price in Italy. We can’t afford plane tickets for all of us and we would not put Fruity in cargo. As well, we don’t want to leave Fruity in another country without one of us here. No way.
It may be inconvenient to make sure our pets are safe but we have to do that! No ifs ands or butts. No hesitation was on my part for this situation because I can handle the stress alone. Fruity cannot.
Singing to our pets may be just the start. And all of us have a lifetime commitment to them. Thanks for all you do for your pets! I’m sure you don’t want to hear me sing, but I hope you’ll look forward to what we can accomplish for animals when we are all thru this. Ways to help are below and also a recipe from our Patreon page! We ALL thank you.

Eggie Toast For Dogs With Asparagus

Take one egg and scramble with fork along with one teaspoon of cream cheese. Chop two stalks of asparagus and 1/4 cup ham. Mix into egg mixture and scramble over low heat in a nonstick pan with a little coconut or olive oil. Toast one piece of bread and put egg mixture on top. Garnish with dog friendly veggies to make it special if you wish!
